Education	The 1910 Federal Census states that Earl, and his brother Ed, had attended school during the past year. The first Lester school house was built in 1892. It's location was just under two miles from the Kipp farm. It is likely that Earl and Ed attended this school. In the winter months school was held above a store in Lester. This location was also about two miles from the Kipp farm. The first accredited high school graduating class was in 1923, however there were previous graduating classes. In 1910 Earl would have been 14, and Ed 16.
Birth	World War I draft registration card lists birthdate as Aug. 1, 1896 and place of birth as Storm Lake, Iowa. The death certificate shows place of birth as Lester, Iowa.

Occupation	Per document by Gene and Vivian Kipp. After moving to Sundance worked as a carpenter and a painter. Also worked on the road from Sundance to Beulah WY. He purchased the mail route from Sundance WY to Spearfish SD from Fred Schloredt in 1932. In 1931 he added a freight between Sundance and Deadwood, SD. Applied for certificate from Interstate Commerce Commission in 1938 as a common carrier for interstate transportation which he received on July 23, 1941. Along with the mail and freight, other items were bread, milk, groceries, and dry cleaning. Purchased the theatre equipment in 1943 and operated the theatre until 1963.
